Connecting to Veritas and Champion

Users can connect to Veritas and Champion using SSH (SSH Secure Shell Client) and SFTP (SSH Secure File Transfer Client). Please note that Telnet is not available on Veritas or Champion.

1. What is SSH and SFTP?

SSH provides a Telnet-like connection while SFTP provides an FTP-like method of transferring files. Both SSH and SFTP are much more secure and safe to use than either Telnet or FTP, because they encrypt the passwords, while passwords in Telnet and FTP go to the network in plain text. For other security issues, see ITSO's Why you should use SSH.

2. Where can I get SSH and SFTP?
If you do not have SSH or SFTP, you can obtain the SSH Secure Shell Client and SSH Secure File Transfer Client from the IUware Online. For instructions on how to download, see How to download Secure Shell (SSH).

For Macintosh users, you must use an SSH2 client. The Mac version of F-Secure SSH1 will not work on Veritas. You can obtain a free SSH2 client from IUware Online.
