Applying for an Account

General Account Information
Find out who can request an account on Webserve (www.indiana.edu, www.iupui.edu, www.iun.edu, and www.iuk.edu), the cost, and the restrictions on account content and usage.

Applying for a Web Account
Once you are ready to get an account, this document takes you through the steps of creating the group username in the Account Management Service. This is necessary to do before filling out the web account application form.

Create or Manage Web Account
Once you have created the group username in the Account Management Service, you can then apply for a web account using this new application. To access it, you will need to authenticate using your personal Network ID (username and passphrase).

Account Maintenance

Update Your Webserve Account Information - Accessible to account owners only
To update information about a specific account, enter your personal IU account username and passphrase when prompted. As the owner, if you own multiple accounts then you may list all of the accounts you own and the associated services for those account.

Delete Request for a Web Account - Accessible to account owners only
The owner of an account may use this application to close a web account. If the owner is unknown, retired or has left IU, please contact the IU Webmaster for assistance.

Transferring Web Account Ownership
The owner of an account may transfer ownership of a web account to another appropriate owner. If the owner is unknown, retired or has left IU, please contact the IU Webmaster for assistance.

Rename Request for a Web Account
The owner of an account may request a rename of a web account. However it is best practice to request a new web account, move the files over and redirect the users from the old site to the new site. This prevents broken links and confusion.

Passphrase Information

Changing or Resetting Your Webserve Passphrase
This Knowledge Base document provides instructions on how to change the passphrase for your web account and how to get it reset if you have forgotten it. When changing or resetting the web account's passphrase, please be aware that it will change the passphrase for all computer accounts with that username (e.g., email).
