Who can request an account on the IU central web server?
-
Any IU university-affiliated department, group or organization can request
an account in this central web server environment for the purpose of
publishing
information about the services they offer to the IU community.
Student groups who wish to use this server to publish university-related material may do so as long as the owner is a full time staff/faculty member who is ultimately responsible for the account and its use. For additional information on computing accounts for student organizations, see:http://kb.iu.edu/data/cadt.html
Professional Organizations may request central server web accounts provided that the group is directly related to the business of the University and 50% of the group's members are IU faculty or staff.
Professional Organization computing accounts are for the sole and exclusive use of the IU organization and its designated members, and may not be used for or by other organizations or individuals not affiliated with IU.
To request an account, the username must first be created using the Account Managment Service. See Applying for a Web Account for more information.

The information distributed from an account on
www.indiana.edu, www.iupui.edu, www.iun.edu, and www.iuk.edu
must be related to the individual's, department's or student group's
role within the university (e.g., departmental information, a faculty
member's research or instructional information). Specifically,
these accounts are not to be used for information such as the kind often found
on personal home pages (e.g., hobbies, family information, favorite entertainment
links).
These accounts are for information distribution, and not for general purpose computing (e.g., reading personal mail, compiling programs). Use of these accounts must also be in accordance with the terms outlined by the University Information Policy Office.
Please note that we do not permit the use of a redirect to simply direct people from an account to another web site. Redirects should be used to redirect visitors to a different document within your own account or if you are redirecting to another account that is replacing your account. In the case where you are redirecting to a new account, the redirect can be in place for 6 months at which point you should close your old account.
